It
is also called as Great Indian
Desert, extensive region of sandy desert
in eastern Pakistan and north western India.
It covers an area
of 44.6 million hectare, of which
27.8 hectare lies in India and
the rest in Pakistan. Most of the area of the
Thar Desert is situated in western Rajasthan.
